Pumachanca Group, Cordillera Vilcanota. Faye Kerr, Mary Fulford and Esme Speakman, an English ladies group, climbed during the middle of August in the Pumachanca group, which rises above a snow- field at the head of the Quebrada San Lorenzo. (See map on p. 418 of A.AJ., 1971.) They ascended beyond Socapata and entered the group either through the Quebrada Kira Kira or the Río Socapata. They climbed two 17,000 and two 16,000-foot peaks, which we have not yet definitely identified.
