South America, Peru–Cordillera Blanca, Champara Group

Publication Year: 1972.

Champará Group. In July we spent ten days in the Champará group. We entered the Quebrada Coronquillo from the Hacienda Mira Santa by a circuitous route dictated by the earthquake damage of the previous year. We climbed P 5273 (17,300 feet) and two 5000-meter peaks on the north side of Coronquillo. The party consisted of Donald and Winifred Morton, J. and J. Guckenheimer, Eric Adelberger, Philip Hocker and me with the Peruvians Juan Zúñiga and Maximiliano Morales.
