Chicago Mountaineering Club. During the summer the club conducted its 14th western outing, with Jack Weisman as chairman, in the Grenadier range in southwestern Colorado. Base camp was in Elk Creek Valley and was attended by 56 people. Ascents were made of Vestal, Trinity, North Peak, and Peaks 2 and 3. Also several members, including Olle Swartling, Roger Wiegand, Chuck Armstrong, and Frances Mullen (who drove down the Pan American Highway) joined the Iowa Mountaineers in the Cordillera Blanca in Peru. The spring dinner meeting featured Maynard Miller as guest speaker, who lectured on some aspects of his scientific exploration in the St. Elias range in Alaska.
