Tharkot. After an expedition of the Climbers Club from Bombay, in May had been carried down in an avalanche from a point just above their high camp on Tharkot (20,010 feet), they abandoned their attempt. Later in the year the Mountaineers Club also sent a six-man group to this region. After a long trek from Bharari (Kapkot), they finally reached Sundardunga on September 25 and placed Base Camp at Sukhram on the 27th. Two more camps were set up at 15,500 and 17,000 feet on September 29 and 30. On October 2 Dhrubajyoti Ghosh and porters Kushal Singh and Ram Singh climbed a virgin peak (18,500 feet) southwest of Maiktoli and southeast of Tharkot.
