North America, Canada, Other Canadian Ranges, Alpine Club of Canada Camp at Elk Lake

Alpine Club of Canada Camp at Elk Lake. Approximately 170 people attended the Elk Lake Camp, held in the French Military Group south of the Kananaskis Lakes, a new area for the Annual Camp. The following peaks were climbed as first ascents: Aosta, Foch south peak, "de Gaulle”, "Gamelin”, "Elk Glacier Peaks”, "Coral Peak and Rock Tower”, and "Bat- tisti”. The last mentioned, a magnificent towering mountain of c. 10,200 feet, was climbed by guide Peter Fuhrmann and a small party. They carried a fly camp over into the head of the Cadorna Valley for the ascent, which took 14 hours from there.
