Monashee Range. Don Hubbard, Dick Crompton and I visited the Monashee Range between July 20 and August 6, exploring mountains between Mud Creek and Adams Creek and ascending six major and two minor peaks, apparently for the first time. A helicopter was used to reach a base-camp site at 5800 feet on the lateral moraine near the tongue of the largest valley glacier in the area. The region abounds in challenging peaks although rotten rock discourages high-grade climbing. Even though there are few, if any, peaks which reach 10,000 feet, the valleys are generally low and the relief is great.
