Cashmere Crags, North Face of the Black Pyramid. On June 3, from our camp under a large boulder below the north face, Jim Stuart and I selected the route which began at the base of a dihedral that soars upward for 200 feet and continued toward the pointed summit for 350 feet. At a large ledge we traversed right to the prominent snowfield two-thirds of the way to the summit, and from here the climbing eased but required continual belaying. This eight-hour face route is one of the longer routes in the "Crags proper” which leads to an actual summit. Twenty-four pitons were used, a few for direct aid.
