North America, United States, Washington—Olympic Mountains, Sue Peak

Publication Year: 1964.

Sue Peak. The second highest peak in the seldom visited Bailey Range was first climbed on July 7 by Roy Etten, Jack Christiansen, Dennis Pruitt, and Dan Baker. The party tentatively named the 6950-foot mountain “Sue Peak” in honor of Christiansen’s wife. Though the summit is only ¾ of a mile northeast of Mount Carrie, it is necessary to ascend Mount Fitzhenry in order to gain access to it. The straightforward ascent was made up the glacier on the north side of the summit. Three full days should be allowed for the round trip.
