Stroud Peak, North Face. Fred Beckey and I made the first ascent of this face on August 28. The route generally followed up a concavity on the right of the face to a large, rubble-covered ledge about three-fourths of the way up; it then traversed left on the ledge and ascended a gully system on the left of the face to the summit. The main problem was finding the best route. Except for one spot where two pitons and a sling were used for direct aid, it was continuously class 4 and 5.
