Mikeno: We hear that our honorary member, His Majesty, the King of the Belgians, has recently during his tour of the Congo, attempted the ascent of this volcanic peak, 14,350 feet high, north of Lake Tanganyika. The party consisting, in addition to His Majesty, of Major Van Caubergh, Professor Van Staelen, Colonel Hoeir, the District Commandant Hackers, and the Catholic Missionary Hoes, reached on April 13th the height of 13,940 feet, before being turned back by a sheer wall.
